No, I did not have to get special permission as students did not use it, and it was not used for anything related to students. I also did not have any problems with students giving it commands.

You can set up routines in the app to occur at a specific time. In our class she says, “check schedule” every fifteen minutes. At 10:30 she says, “hey everyone tell, that he is amazing!” (My non-verbals even try to repeat it.) Throughout the day she gives affirmations to other students. At 8:40 she says, “don’t forget to pick up from the bus.” We have a calm down moment when we come in from lunch recess and she says, “everyone join us at the carpet to calm down…then she plays calm music for 3 minutes.” At 2:55 she says, “hey everyone it has been a great day, but now it is time to clean up and then she plays the clean up song by the kiboomers, it is short so I have it run two times back to back.
Sound activation allows one of my students to walk to her and say, “I have finished my work.” and the song “part of your world comes on.” If one of my students screams or cries she begins playing calming music. I don’t have to say anything to her.
